Sizing
Gaskets which come factory fitted on your drysuit will normally be a different sizing to the garment size. If you have a size medium suit or larger, the gasket will be a size large from the factory for these sized suits. The gasket fitted on your suit will also have the gasket size printed on the inside of both the Neck/Wrist if you wish to confirm.
NOTE: We generally keep stock on hand of Large Neck and Wrist Gaskets which suit most sized Drysuits. We keep limited stock on hand of size Small neck gaskets as these are less common. Should the quantity of either size not indicating as Ready to Ship, just get in touch and we can advise delivery ETA (usually dispatches with a couple extra days if not Ready to Ship)
Kokatat Drysuit Maintenance & Care
Kokatat GORE-TEX and Hydrus 3.0 Drysuits are a an essential piece of kit for both winter paddling and cold flowing river trips, to keep your body dry, toasty-warm. Like any technical outdoor garment (think rain jacket etc), these do require periodic and ongoing maintenance to ensure optimum performance.
The Pack Raft Australia team recommend machine washing your drysuit regularly in a front loading washing machine. Use appropriate soap recommended by the garment manufacture, to help remove excess grease, grim, grit which will naturally occur with regular use. Doing so will ensure the waterproof fabrics perform season to season as intended. For more detailed instructions, checkout out Kokatat’s Product Use & Care page here.
In addition, the openings on your drysuits, are sealed by a flexible and soft rubber latex gasket. This allows a tight seal around your neck, wrists (and ankles for suits without integrated socks) to minimise water ingress through these openings into your suit when worn. The properties of rubber latex are such that the latex gaskets will degrade over time and require replacement throughout the life of the garment. We recommend inspecting your drysuit at the start of each season (or more frequently with heavy use), including inspecting your suits gaskets for wear or degradation. At the end of the season, the application of 303 Protectant® will prolong the life of your gaskets (available from most reputable auto stores).
When your gasket latex rubbers begin to crack or become tacky, it’s time to install a fresh set, to keep your suit well sealed.
