Look no further, we’ve got the (adhesive) goods! Over the past decade we’ve tested out multiple brands of 2-part contact adhesives, for our in-house Alpacka Raft packraft modifications and workshop raft repairs. We can’t fault the lasting bond strength and durability of AZBOND C 2-PART POLYURETHANE/PVC ADHESIVE for use in our harsh Australia climate. The ideal glue kit for all your DIY upgrades or patch repairs one your packraft or inflatable craft. This glue is suitable for use on inflatable boats made of either TPU and PVC materials (not suitable for use on Hypalon fabrics used on some boats such as Zodiac).

The manufacturer of AZBOND C advises this product has an unopened shelf life of approximately ~12 months. The catalyst which comes in this kit, once opened should be stored in a cool, dry environment to prolong shelf life. Storing in an actively dry environment, such as a refrigerator, should extend the shelf life. We do however recommend using the tin + catalyst within a few months to avoid spoilage and/or hardening of the catalyst (which may occur once exposed to oxygen and the re-stored for a period of time). The use of the adhesive without the catalyst is not recommend.
We now also stock the activator jar only, should you have an exisiting tin of glue, and require additional activator only available separately here
Packraft and Boat Repair Method
Surface prep with MEK (we’ve found Clear Plumbers Priming Fluid to be more than adequate for this task) for best adhesion, follow mixing and application instructions that come with the kit.
Approximately ~50ml of mixed adhesive/activator is adequate for two coats on both surfaces, for most small to medium patch repairs to complete the job. For larger jobs such as DIY Thigh Strap complete fit out, 100-150ml of mixed adhesive is generally sufficient. Ensure to accurately mix the correct ratio of activator to adhesive as listed on the packaging.
Additional items required for most repairs (not included in kit):
1/4 rubber roller
Paint brush applicator (~6mm-10mm works well)
Fine grit sandpaper (for roughing surfaces)
Gloves
Breathing mask / respirator
Clean up rags
Heat gun (best) or hair dryer
Glue measuring cup/mixing dish

WE RECOMMEND YOU CONDUCT YOUR PACKRAFT REPAIRS AND MODS IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA ONLY. AVOID CONTACT WITH YOUR SKIN AND EYES. WEAR APPROPRIATE GLOVES AND SUITABLE BREATHING PROTECTION WHILE USING THIS STUFF. CAREFULLY READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND HAZARD INFORMATION ON THE CONTAINER. WE DO THESE THINGS, AND WE RECOMMEND YOU DO TOO, SO YOU CAN LIVE ANOTHER DAY TO GO EXPLORE.
