Our Alpacka Raft Self Bailer Conversion kits include all parts necessary components for your rafts conversion, except a hole punch (we recommend only using a quality sharp, 19mm punch, such as one of these and high quality urethane compatible glue (we use and recommend AZ-Bond C 2-part adhesive).

The kits are offered and supplied with three components only (seat, footrest and sleeve insert). The kit is not supplied with any written or illustrative instructions and requires the installer to have an understanding of DIY boat modifications and retrofit.

These kits are designed for boaters who are experienced at modifying their packrafts with a quality urethane compatible glue. These Alpacka Raft self install kits allow you to convert a classic “tub style” open Alpacka Raft packraft to a self bailer! The kit includes the same seating system used in the self bailing Alpacka Series and Whitewater Series boat – a 3/4 length seat and seat sleeve insert to hold the 3/4 length seat securely in place. The seat sleeve is factory thermal welded to 3 x 2-inch wide strips of fabric on either side and front wing of the sleeve, for gluing to the floor of your packraft. These also provide reinforcement for punching the self bailing holes along either side of the raft floor. Ensure your punch is sharp to avoid munted holes/punches. A sharp punch should be able to cleanly punch through the fabric in one blow of your mallet using a hardwood backing block.

The inflatable extended foot pillow is a 1/4 length inflatable foot rest, with baffled design. This works to both keep your feet out of the water, and displace water from the floor of your boat. This connects to the self bailing seat sleeve insert via a metal toggle which feeds through two slits in the seat sleeve insert.

Sizing is is to suit Alpacka Raft Classic Series packrafts (formally called Alpaca (Small), Yak (Medium), Llama (Large). If you are unsure of your boats size, inspect the serial number written under the Alpacka Raft logo on the rear right hand side of your boat For older model boats, a corresponding letter designation will be shown at the end of the number which corresponds to the three former names of each size.

PLEASE NOTE – We reiterate, these kits are designed for boaters who are experienced in modifying their packrafts using a quality urethane compatible glue and are willing to spend the time getting the sleeve placement correct before gluing. We recommend inserting the seat and inflating, then place the seat sleeve over the seat. Mark out the area to apply glue to the boats floor, so the seat sleeve insert “wings” are positioned snuggly to the seat. These kit are supplied only with the components listed, sans any printed or illustrative instructions. If you are not comfortable with this process, we’d recommend purchasing a factory self bailer model, or asking a friend who may be able to assist in the conversion.

These kits may also be used to convert either a Wolverine or Gnarwhal decked boat, into a Self Bailer. Suitable sizing specifically for these models is as follows:
